The Birth of Latinas with Masters

What started out as an online community to support each other’s journey during graduate school authentically became a counterspace and culture of belonging for multi-generational and multi-cultural Latinx navigating higher education. Established in July of 2020, Latinas with Masters continues to create partnerships with colleges and universities to recruit and admit more Women of Color within their academic programs which in return provides a culture of belonging because #RepresentationMatters.

Latinas with Masters had created more counter spaces on social media such as the “Latinas completing Masters degrees” Facebook group, “Academic and Career Resources” Linkedin Group and the Latinas with Masters membership private group. Christina has a passion for expressing herself through the love and influences of music and creates IG Reels through the power and inspiration of music to bring awareness to the issues and lived experiences by communities of color.

The Latinas with Masters Podcast was created as a platform for storytelling our narratives and counter narratives of being first generation Latinx college students. Dismantling the vibe of gatekeeping, Christina and her guests share their experiences of the hard knocks of higher education, and provide academic guidance for future generation leaders who are embarking on their academic journey.

The Latinas with Masters Collection was created to provide tangible and visible representation as first generation college graduates but most importantly, the appreciation and representation of the sacrifices are parents and ancestors made that provides us the privilege to pursue a college degree despite all the odds that are against us.

Latinas with Masters represents Latinx culture to the fullest, showing up authentically and celebrating Big Latinx Energy in all spaces we enter the room whether that be a guest on a podcast, tv or radio show, IG lives or speaking at college campuses and conferences. Christina is honored to represent and be part of a powerhouse familia of bad ass Latinx who are paving the way, buying our own damn table to sit on without asking anyone for permission!

There is so much more coming down the pipepline for Latinas with Masters because this is just the beginning. Latinas with Masters would not be where it is today, 20,000+ strong across multi-channel platforms without the continued love and support from the Latinx community who motivates her everyday to keep on luchando por la causa!
